Welcome to the Committee Volunteer Resource Hub! This is your go-to space for all the essential tools and information you need to stay informed and engaged as a valuable committee member.
Meeting Requirements: Volunteers are required to attend in-person meetings a minimum of four (4) times per year. Additional meetings can be scheduled as needed via conference call.
Attendance Policy: Volunteers are allowed up to two (2) excused absences. The Board of Directors reserves the right to remove volunteers from their position after more than two no-shows or absences are recorded.
Committee Participation Limits: Volunteers may serve on two (2) committees at a time, but can only serve as Chair of one (1) committee.
Awards Ceremony Committee[Board appointed] |
The committee plans the Circle of Excellence Awards Ceremony, honoring outstanding apartment communities, companies, and individuals. Responsibilities include managing nominations, selecting a theme, securing the venue and entertainment, and overseeing event details to ensure a memorable celebration of industry excellence. |
Business Exchange Committee[Board Appointed] |
The committee organizes SEFAA's Business Exchange, a dynamic speed networking event where suppliers meet one-on-one with management companies through timed 3-minute sessions. The committee's goals include securing a venue, organizing event logistics, ensuring participation from management companies and auction items, and promoting sufficient supplier attendance for a successful event. |
Community Services Committee |
The committee focuses on building connections between multifamily industry professionals and the public by identifying community needs and planning supportive activities. The committee's goals include selecting charitable organizations to support at SEFAA events, providing members with various opportunities to give back throughout the year, and researching areas of the community that require the most assistance |
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee |
The committee develops strategies to promote a diverse and inclusive environment for all. They achieve this by organizing educational sessions and offering online resources to SEFAA members. The committee's goals include providing resources on DEI efforts, strategies, and opportunities within the multifamily industry, implementing strategies to enhance diversity in leadership roles at the Board and Committee levels, and delivering engaging educational sessions and training for members interested in exploring DEI further. |
Education & Career Committee |
The committee is responsible for scheduling diverse programs for SEFAA's general membership meetings, aiming to secure informative and engaging speakers on topics that appeal to a wide range of members. They also provide timely seminars on industry-related subjects, including legal issues, marketing, leasing, environmental concerns, risk management, fair housing, and more. The committee's goals include securing relevant speakers for events, researching and offering timely seminars, and providing certifications to help advance members' careers. |
Legislative Affairs & PAC Committee |
The committee monitors legislation affecting the multifamily housing industry and oversees fundraising for NAAPAC and APAC. Working with the FAA and NAA, the committee organizes fundraisers, supports industry-friendly legislation, and sets annual fundraising goals. |
Maintenance Council |
The council serves as a forum for maintenance technicians, focusing on developing educational training sessions related to their job duties. It provides SEFAA members with timely seminars on industry topics, complementing NAAEI designation courses. The committee's goals include organizing events to unite the maintenance community, offering certification programs for career growth, and enhancing communication within the maintenance professional community. |
Management Executive Forum[Board Appointed] |
The committee aims to create a high-quality educational experience for owners and executive management, focusing on relevant topics in the multifamily industry. The committee's goals include maintaining sponsorships and following up with rostered guests to ensure engagement and support. |
Membership Committee |
The committee focuses on recruiting new members and retaining existing ones while enhancing member satisfaction and engagement. It strengthens industry relationships through annual membership drives, networking mixers, and outreach programs. The committee's goals include increasing membership units, targeting unique segments, strategizing recruitment at events, and highlighting membership value. |
Multi-Housing Trade Show Committee |
The committee is responsible for planning and executing SEFAA’s Trade Show, one of the largest multifamily housing industry events in South Florida, featuring top suppliers. The committee's goals include securing a large venue, ensuring sufficient participation, and organizing the booth layout for a successful showcase. |
Supplier Council |
The council enhances resources and value for SEFAA’s supplier members by creating networking opportunities and facilitating engagement with key decision-makers in the multifamily housing sector. It hosts events like the annual trade show and supplier success breakfast. The Council's goals include structuring beneficial events, recognizing members at various levels, and promoting networking opportunities to foster key industry connections. |
Volleyball Tournament |
The committee plans SEFAA’s Annual Volleyball Tournament, uniting players and spectators from management and supplier companies for a day of friendly competition and networking. Its goals include securing a venue, acquiring team rosters, managing team brackets, and arranging food and beverages. |
Young Professionals Council |
The council provides networking and skill development opportunities for emerging leaders in the multifamily housing industry, focusing on leadership education and industry awareness. It organizes social and educational events for SEFAA members to network and explore career opportunities. Key goals include managing the SEFAA YP Facebook group, recruiting leaders for events, engaging with the community, and organizing events to support young professionals' career growth. |
